Cranberry Township rolled into the Eagle County League baseball semifinals with an 11-1, 5-inning victory over Butler Township Tuesday evening at Butler County Community College.

Cranberry, which jumped in front with six runs in the top of the first inning, swept the best-of-3 series.

Ben Murray smacked a 3-run home run in the win, Justin Stewart doubled twice and Nash Matson singled and doubled.

Matt Evans earned the win, striking out four and walking none in five innings.

Joe Demeis had two of Butler Township's three hits.

Cranberry will begin its best-of-5 semifinal series against the Captains at 6 p.m. Thursday at North Boundary Park.

CINCINNATI — The Pirates have suspended bullpen coach Euclides Rojas for two games beginning Tuesday because of what it termed a contract violation, Pittsburgh's second suspension this month involving the bullpen.Rojas began serving the penalty Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds. The club had no further comment.Reliever Keone Kela also served a two-game suspension in July for an unspecified violation of his contract. Yahoo Sports reported that Kela was suspended due to an altercation with Hector Morales, the team's director of cultural readiness and peak performance coach. Kela did not refute that report when asked about it last week.

CINCINNATI — A.J. Green had ankle surgery and is expected to miss the start of the Bengals' season.Green hurt his left ankle during the opening practice of camp Saturday in Dayton, landing awkwardly after cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick bumped into the star receiver while breaking up a pass.Coach Zac Taylor said Green had surgery Tuesday morning. He's hopeful that Green won't miss “more than a couple of games.” Cincinnati opens the season at Seattle on Sept. 8, then hosts San Francisco followed by road games against Buffalo and Pittsburgh.

CLEVELAND — The Indians have reportedly found a trade partner - in a way, two - for Trevor Bauer, and they’ve also discovered the right-handed hitters the lineup has largely missed this season ahead of Wednesday’s trade deadline.Following Tuesday night’s 2-0 loss to the Houston Astros, reports hit that the Indians had dealt Bauer to the Cincinnati Reds in a three-team deal that also involves the San Diego Padres. In return, the Indians are reportedly acquiring outfielder Yasiel Puig from the Cincinnati Reds and outfielder Franmil Reyes and left-handed pitcher Logan Allen from the Padres. Reds outfielder prospect Taylor Trammel is also reportedly headed to San Diego in the deal. Further details of the trade are still emerging.Staff and wire reports
