Gayda pitches team to victory

Cranberry conquers Captains, 5-2; Butler also victorious

Matt Gayda pitched a complete game, allowing a pair of runs while striking out six and walking just one in Cranberry Township’s 5-2 victory over the Cranberry Captains in Eagle County League baseball play at North Boundary Park Monday evening.

Brandon Pouch and Evan Oswald both singled and tripled for CT (10-4-1), which led 5-0 entering the bottom of the fifth. John Brittner added a single and double in the win.

Jake Rocco hit a solo home run for the Captains (14-2-1).

Romello Brown hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to lift Butler to a 6-4 win over the Bootleggers in Center Township.

Mike Hepler, Aaron Marterella and Hunter French each had two hits in the win. Dom Pasquale had a hit and scored three runs in support of Marterella, who worked a complete game.

Hildebrand and Bryan both had two hits for the Bootleggers (5-14).

Butler improved to 3-15.
