The Butler Fall Festival has officially moved from Main Street and hopes to score some attention at its new location.

Through its official Facebook and Web pages, the festival announced it will move this year's event to Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.

The festival will be on Sept. 28 and run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will operate much the same and could have more freedom, according to Dean Selfridge Jr., who serves on the festival board.

Selfridge said the board only has four volunteer members, and over the last few years they all have been weighing the sacrifices they make in their personal lives to continue the festival's tradition on Main Street.

“It just made sense,” Selfridge said. “It's so much less work and organization.”

Selfridge is also the director of Pullman Park. He said having the festival at the park takes legwork away from organizing the event, such as coordinating the different authorities and gaining permission for a Main Street event.

“(Pullman Park) is safe. It's fenced in. It's safe for kids,” Selfridge said. “Last year we had 167 vendors. If we can fit more, we'll bring more.”

Cheri Reade, a stadium authority board member, said having another event on board like the fall festival is a testament to the turnaround the stadium is experiencing.

She said in number of games alone, the stadium has increased from around 300 last year to around 500 this year.

“The community has been extremely supportive. I feel like we've had an outpouring of love,” Reade said. “We want the stadium to be something for the community. We would like to have events there.”
