Charlie Stitt of Penn Township, an Army veteran and retired AK Steel executive, wanted to take a trip to Normandy to tour the beaches stormed by thousands of courageous GIs on June 6, 1944, during World War II’s “Operation Overlord,” better known as D-Day. Stitt invited his two grandsons, Ethan McCoy and Paul Stitt, to accompany him on the trip in May 2018.
