Races will be conducted in heats of two Jeeps each.

All participants will be eligible to win up to $250, first place; $150, second place; and $75, third place.

A Losers Dash for Cash will give all participants another chance at a $50 cash prize.

“Anyone, including those who don’t own a Jeep, can participate in the Barbee Jeep Race,” said Patti Jo Lambert, festival director. “We hope everyone will take advantage of this new way to experience the festival. We’re sure the participants will have a blast and those cheering them on will have even more fun watching the race.”

The entry fee is $30. The entry fee does not include general admission to the festival at Cooper’s Lake Campground or a T-shirt. The race is free to watch.

There are a few rules for participants in the race:

All ride-on Jeeps must have no motors or gears and the battery must be removed.

All ride-on Jeeps must have some type of steering device and only plastic wheels.

Drivers must be age 18 or older.

Full motorcycle/motocross helmet must be worn and buckled securely.

Jeeps will be inspected before the race. Any Jeep that does not follow the rules will be disqualified.

Each driver is allowed a one-person pit crew to assist with any necessary repairs.

All drivers and their pit crew members are required to attend a driver’s meeting at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
