Butler Junior High wrestler Ava Malovich placed fifth in the 14-under 85-pound division at the 2019 Women’s Freestyle Wrestling Nationals in Texas.

Malovich won two matches and lost two. Her wins were by a 13-2 technical fall over an opponent from California and an 8-0 decision over a girl from Wisconsin.

She lost to opponents from Illinois and Hawaii, who placed second and third in the tournament, respectively.
