The WPIAL released its softball pairings Thursday.

Four Butler County area teams will be in action in the postseason:

Seneca Valley will play Canon-McMillan in the first round of the 6A playoffs at 6 p.m. Wednesday at North Allegheny.

In 4A, Knoch received a first-round bye and will play the winner of the Ambridge vs. Greensburg-Salem game May 20.

In 3A, Freeport will take on Ellwood City at 4 p.m. Tuesday at North Allegheny.

Also in 3A, North Catholic will battle Keystone Oaks at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars released quarterback Cody Kessler on Thursday, clearing the way for rookie Gardner Minshew to become Nick Foles' backup.Kessler started four games in place of Blake Bortles last December, completing 64 percent of his passes for 553 yards and a touchdown.Minshew, a sixth-round draft pick, signed his rookie contract and will take part in a three-day rookie camp beginning Friday.Kessler's departure leaves Jacksonville with Foles, Minshew, 2018 sixth-round pick Tanner Lee and Alex McGough as the team's quarterbacks.From staff and wire reports
