Tornado girls win Baldwin Invite
The Butler girls track and field team placed second at the 46th annual Baldwin Invitational Friday night.
The Golden Tornado began the meet by winning the 4x800 meter relay. Chesna Tomko, Chelsey Kabel, Jen Cichra and Liz Simms ran the event in 9 minutes, 32.23 seconds — the fastest time in the WPIAL this season.
Samantha Penrod placed second in the pole vault, as did Simms in the 800 meters and the Tornado’s 4x400 meter relay team.
Butler’s girls compete in the WPIAL Class AAA team championships against Norwin, North Allegheny and Seneca Valley at 4 p.m. Monday at Peters Township.
