B’NAI ABRAHAM

Congregation B’Nai Abraham, 519 N. Main St., hosts Prof. Oscar E. Swan at 8 p.m. Friday to talk about his recently released book, “Rescued from the Ashes: The Diary of Leokadia Schmidt, Survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto.” Swan, who is professor of Slavic Languages and Literature at the University of Pittsburgh, translated the diaries from Polish. The talk will follow the regular 7 p.m. service, and light refreshments will be held afterward. The community is invited to attend. Do not park in Armstrong parking lot to the south of building.

Butler Church of the Nazarene

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have Chrisann Green providing the music Sunday.

Christ Community UNITED METHODIST

The Prayer Shawl Group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, meets at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Holy Communion will be observed at both services Sunday. The Rev. Hughie Orsborn will lead worship at both Sunday services.

St. Vincent de Paul Food Cupboard volunteers will meet 8 a.m. Monday.

Men’s Fellowship Group meets at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eat’n Park, 214 New Castle Road.

The Quilters will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Covenant PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Communion at the 11 a.m. Sunday service with soloist Darla Peterson.

A fellowship reception follows the service.

First Baptist

First Baptist Christian School’s elementary program will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Pastor Jeff Hurst of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., speaks at the Men’s Spring Retreat at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. Retreat begins at 5:30 p.m.. Friday and ends at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Shop at 216 will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Berean social will be a 4 p.m. potluck dinner on Saturday at the Baptist Youth Center.

Sunday’s service schedule begins with an 8:30 a.m. prayer service followed by 9:15 a.m. breakfast. Sunday school classes at 9:45 a.m. will be followed by an 11 a.m. worship service.

First English Lutheran

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have the Good Samaritan flower pot at the back of the church sanctuary during the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service for donations to those in need in the area.

Dinner Church is at 5 p.m. Sunday. It will include Communion, scripture, prayer, a light meal and speaker Lauren Wolcott from the Southwestern Pa. Synod.

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., has the first Thursday Ladies’ Night Out at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rock Ann Haven, 141 Greenwood Drive. All ladies are invited to join in.

Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Following Sunday worship, GLOW kids will be learning all about Moses and the Ten Commandments through song, storytelling, arts and crafts, games, cooking, fellowship and fun in the fellowship hall. Lunch is provided. Pick-up time is 1:30 p.m.

Butler Relay for Life will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the social hall.

Graceway

GraceWay meets each Sunday at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

HIGHLAND PRESBYTERIAN

Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, will have a Golden Celebration Sunday during the 11 a.m. worship service to honor longtime members. A luncheon in the fellowship hall will follow the service.

Hill UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., celebrates the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

A luncheon to recognize the ushers will follow the service.

The book club will meet at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the Hall Lounge.

The Hill Quilters will meet at 9 a.m. Friday.

mars UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The transition team of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the church office.

There will be one Sunday worship service at 10 a.m. with guest speaker seminary student Zach Bailey.

The building and grounds committee meets at 11:15 a.m. Sunday after the worship service.

Orchard hill butler county

Sunday is the last to explore the history, mission, theology and vision of Orchard Hill Church at the “Discovering Orchard Hill” class from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Sunday in the Kidzburgh Hall at 107 Staley Ave.

The worship service will follow at 10:30 a.m.

The Annual Spring (Stuffed Chicken Breast/Pork Chop) Dinner will start at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The ladies will be baking pies on Friday. Help is needed with the pies, and baked goods are needed for the bake sale running during the dinner.

St. John’s Lutheran

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, celebrates Holy Communion during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The audit committee meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday to audit last year’s financial books.

ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, has a 7 p.m. to midnight youth group lock-in May 10 at the church.
