9:18 a.m. Saturday — John J. Halagich, 42, of Butler was allegedly caught driving during suspension on New Castle Road. He is charged with a third or subsequent offense of driving with a suspended license-DUI related, a misdemeanor. Police also cited him for driving without a license, making an improper turn, failing to carry his vehicle registration card, and a seat belt violation.4:11 p.m. April 23 — Lon M. Cooper, 54, of Butler was stopped for allegedly driving during suspension on Hansen Avenue. He is charged with a third or subsequent offense of driving with a suspended license-DUI related. Police also cited him for driving without a license and driving an unregistered vehicle.

11 p.m. Sunday — An Ohio woman was arrested after she was allegedly caught shoplifting $203.44 in merchandise at the Walmart on Route 19. District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Venita McCall, 36, of Warren on a misdemeanor charge of retail theft. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.

9:17 a.m. Sunday — Two unknown thieves purchased $500 in Visa gift cards with a stolen credit card at the Dollar General store on Route 422 in Franklin Township. The suspects are described as a male and female, both black. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.4:53 a.m. Sunday — Cars driven by Cheryl A. Garvin, 59, of Cabot and Noah C. Vasilj, 20, of Mars collided on West Jefferson Road just east of Bullcreek Road in Jefferson Township. Police cited Garvin for driving on the wrong side of the road.4:33 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Larry R. Singer, 79, of Butler struck a car at Stoughton and Slippery Rock roads in Slippery Rock Township. Kyle R. Errera, 18, of Slippery Rock was the other driver. Police cited Singer for failing to yield the right of way.1:19 p.m. Sunday — Two 15-year-old boys landed in trouble with the law after a physical altercation on Main Street in Karns City. Police did not identify the boys, who face charges of disorderly conduct.12:14 a.m. Sunday — Dean J. Burgunder, 28, of Moon Township, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence following a two-vehicle crash in Connoquenessing Township. No one was injured. Police said Burgunder's pickup truck rear-ended a car that was stopped on Route 68 at Whitestown Road for a red light. He fled the scene, according to a police report, without exchanging information with the other driver, Samantha T. Greene, 22, of Evans City. Two minutes after the wreck, troopers found Burgunder. He was taken into custody for DUI, the report said, and hit-and-run on an attended vehicle.Sunday — Police reported they are investigating a case of theft by deception that cost the victim $2,800. According to a police report, the incident occurred between April 13 and 17 when the victim, who lives in Clay Township, was scammed “via a purported sale of a motorcycle through Craigslist and eBay.”April 22 — No damage was caused when someone started a fire in the parking lot of the Clay Township municipal building on Euclid School Road. The incident occurred between 12:01 a.m. April 21 and 10 a.m. April 22.April 21 — An unknown thief stole several tools from a vehicle on Duffy Road in Brady Township. The theft occurred between 6 p.m. April 20 and 6 a.m. April 21. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.7:39 a.m. April 20 — Police said alcohol is suspected in a Brady Township wreck when Tyler M. Beck, 23, of Cherry Tree, Indiana County, lost control of his car and struck a ditch on Route 8 just east of Muddy Creek Drive. He was wearing a seat belt and suffered an unknown injury. He refused medical treatment.8:37 p.m. April 19 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Kelley R. Emerick, 36, of Butler rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 68 just north of Whitestown Road in Connoquenessing Township. Peyton A. Hilliard, 20, of Boyers was the other driver. No one was injured. The SUV had to be towed. Police cited Emerick for following too closely to another vehicle.11:37 a.m. April 18 — A car driven by Amber M. Double, 33, of Petrolia struck an SUV on Route 68 near the University Korner store in Oakland Township. Gretchen Miller, 71, of Chicora was the other driver. Police cited Double for making an improper left turn.11:22 a.m. April 17 — One person was badly hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson Township. Robert D. Spears, 66, of Pittsburgh was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with “significant injuries,” a police report said. Spears was driving a car that collided with a triaxle truck on Route 356 just south of Caldwell Drive. David C. Schuey, 52, of Kittanning was the other driver. Spears' condition was not available. Schuey was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Both vehicles had to be towed. The report said Spears faces a ticket for a stop sign violation.
