The Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds and Facilities Authority is considering the purchase of more security cameras after the batting cage at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park was vandalized over the weekend.

Profanity was spray painted in the batting cage at some point during the weekend, but it has been removed, said Dean Selfridge, authority operations manager.

Butler police are investigating.

High school baseball teams were playing on the field Monday, he said.

Selfridge said he would obtain prices for at least two more cameras and take them to the next authority meeting.

The authority also fined the Pine-Richland High School baseball team $300 for playing with metal cleats that damaged the field. The cleats damaged the pitcher's mound, turf and batter's box, Selfridge said. He said school coaches and athletic directors are aware of the rule against using metal cleats and umpires will now be told.

Selfridge said bands have been lined up for the summer concert series in the stadium parking lot every Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. from June 7 to Sept. 26.He said he is trying to make arrangements to have other activities for concertgoers.
