Gas prices predicted to rise a bit
Gas prices in Pennsylvania are generally higher than national averages, and national averages look to increase as 2019 continues into summer.
State gasoline price averages reported and updated daily by AAA show Pennsylvania's prices between 10 and 20 cents higher than national averages. Butler County, in particular, is right in-line with state averages, according to AAA's reports. On April 8, for instance, $2.89 per gallon was the county's average price, while the state average was $2.88 per gallon. The national average was $2.74 per gallon on that day.
Monthly gasoline price estimates produced by the federal U.S. Energy Information Administration show national average prices rising by about 10 to 20 cents during the summer months of 2019, before returning to similar prices in the late fall.
Applying those estimates to state averages, though an imperfect estimate, suggests locals might be paying around $3 per gallon when fueling up for summer road trips this year.
