GRANTVILLE — Butler resident Dan Smith was recently inducted into the USA Softball of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame at its 45th annual banquet last month.

Smith was inducted as an umpire. He has been umpiring ASA softball games since 1980. He retired from playing the game in 1995.

One of the charter members of the Butler County Umpires Association, Smith later became that organization’s president. He has worked numerous state championship tournaments through the years.
