WHEELING, W.Va. — Butler graduate Jamison Smith, a senior on the Wheeling Jesuit men’s lacrosse team, has been named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Smith scored five goals and added four assists in a pair of wins, including the game-winning overtime goal against Dominican (N.Y.).

He leads the Cardinals with 17 goals and 11 assists through 10 games this season.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University softball team split a doubleheader with Mercyhurst Wednesday, losing the first game 2-1 before winning the nightcap, 4-2.

Camie Shumaker allowed six hits and struck out six in taking the complete-game loss in the opener. Chloe Sharman worked 6.1 innings in winning the second game.

SRU (11-14, 3-1) hosts Edinboro Friday.
