Home show slated this weekend
CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Rocco Lamanna, owner of County Home Shows, sets up and runs home shows in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, Washington County, Murraysville and Pittsburgh's South Hills neighborhood as well as others.
“Butler is the biggest one,” Lamanna said.
The Butler County Home Show is once again sold out to vendors, and will open at 3 p.m. Friday and continue until 8 p.m. The free event will continue from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Family Sports Center, 542 Evans City Road.
The event and parking are free.
Lamanna said 110 vendors will set up booths at the show, where residents can stop and talk to the experts about any problems or projects at their properties.
“We sell out every year and can't fit any more people in the building,” Lamanna said.
Last year, 6,500 people attended the home show to access purveyors of everything from windows and gutter systems to travel trailers.
Lamanna said the event is very popular among vendors.
“The vendors who come get enough out of it and want to come back every year,” Lamanna said. “People vote with their dollars.”
He said that while many vendors, such as Armstrong and Butler Floor and Carpet, have set up booths at the Butler County Home Show since its inception eight years ago, new vendors can also be found each year.
Jim Rodgers, Butler Floor and Carpet's general manager, said his company attends the home show every year because residents from Butler and surrounding communities attend.
“It makes sense with our demographic and what we do,” Rodgers said.
He said that each year the home show spurs new interest in the carpet and flooring he sells.
“We do see an increase in (store) traffic and tire-kicking,” Rodgers said.
A new product that will be presented this weekend at the home show, Rodgers said, is waterproof flooring.
He said the water-resistant flooring he sells will resist water, but can still be affected if overexposed to it.
But waterproof flooring is guaranteed to be unaffected, even in a flood. That allows it to be fully warrantied.
“You can put this stuff in a bucket of water and let it sit for a year,” Rodgers said.
The waterproof flooring comes in planks, tile and luxury vinyl tile, Rodgers said.
“We'll bring displays to the home show to present it,” he said.
Chrissie Charlesworth, general manager of Armstrong Comfort Solutions, said the Armstrong family of companies sponsors the home show each year so county property owners can attend without paying admission.
“The home show is in our back yard,” Charlesworth said. “We support the community.”
The home show is a popular event in the county because of the proliferation of local vendors.
“People within this community support this community and support each other,” Charlesworth said. “The people of Butler are proud.”
Armstrong bought the 60-year-old Kenneth McDonald heating and cooling business in January 2018, moving the cable company into the heating, ventilation and air conditioning business, Charlesworth said.
The company will host a booth at the home show where those in attendance can enter a drawing for a free air purification system valued at nearly $700. If the winner does not need such a system, they will receive $300 off the installation of an HVAC system, Charlesworth said.
She said everyone should come check out the diverse group of vendors this weekend at the Butler County Home Show.
“There will be a lot of great offers and coupons for our residents in the area,” she said.
The home show also will include demonstrations and presentations by experts.
