March 18 — Shauna M. Cress, 33, of Butler was arraigned on misdemeanor drug charges in two unrelated cases.
In one case, Butler police allegedly caught her around 10:45 p.m. March 17 with suspected crack cocaine and a crack pipe after she was arrested on a bench warrant on the 100 block of Elm Street.
She is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
In the other case, a city police officer working for the Butler County Drug Task Force allegedly found her with drug contraband following a Nov. 9 traffic stop on the 200 block of West Cunningham Street. Officers that night were conducting surveillance of drug activity.
Cress, who was a passenger in the stopped vehicle, was found to be wanted on a warrant, according to court documents. A search of a small leather bag that she admitted was hers allegedly turned up a stamp bag of suspected heroin, three syringes, a crack pipe and other contraband.
She also admitted that she was carrying crack cocaine. The suspected drug was allegedly found during a body search at the Butler County Prison.
Cress was arraigned March 18 in both cases on a combined three counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $2,500.

9:28 a.m. Monday — Philip Myers, 32, of Butler swerved his pickup truck to avoid stopped traffic on Whitestown Road near Stone Ridge Boulevard, hitting a curb and grazing a utility pole. He was not hurt, but his truck had to be towed.
