B'NAI ABRAHAM

A festive purimschpiel, (funny skit loosely based on the biblical Book of Esther) will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Congregation B’nai Abraham, 519 N. Main St.

The regular Friday night service is at 7 p.m., with the purimschpiel, “Haman-ton,” based on the Broadway show, “Hamilton,” to follow at about 7:45 p.m.

The show is 30 minutes long, and there will be cookies and coffee afterward.

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, has Gwen Atkinson providing the music Sunday.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, has Lenten study at 10:30 a.m. Thursday led by Pastor Gascoine.

There will be no youth group meeting Sunday.

The Lent-Easter children’s item collection is either a T-shirt, top or pair of shorts for kindergarten through 6th grade. Place items in the box in the narthex.

The contemporary worship planning committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and the council committee meets at 7 p.m. The newsletter will be mailed Wednesday,

The men’s group meets at 6:30 a.m., quilters at 9 a.m. and Lenten Bible study at 7 p.m. March 28.

The St. Vincent DePaul food cupboard March item of cereal is still being accepted.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., has Pastor John Silbert leading the 9:45 a.m. Seekers adult Sunday school class in the assembly room Sunday and March 31.

Copies of the annual Lenten devotional booklet developed by faculty, staff and students of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary are available in paper form at either sanctuary door.

Lenten services of prayer are 10 a.m. each Wednesday in Lent in Winters Chapel in Sarver Hall.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

At Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St., Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service led by Elder Ron McKissick.

The AA group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WW meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. March 28 and 8:30 a.m. March 30.

FIRST BAPTIST

Sunday’s service schedule at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., begins at 9:45 a.m. Sunday with Jorge Rodriguez, missionary to Mexico City, speaking during both Sunday school and the 11 a.m. worship service, followed by lunch and 1:15 p.m. worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will celebrate new members at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

BALM Lutheran Sisters will meet at 11 a.m. Friday at Mac’s Route 8 Café, 16 Pittsburgh Road, where participants will make a craft for a nursing home.

A Bible study for BALM youth is from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Cummings on Main Street.

The Butler Area Lutheran Ministries’ Wednesday Lenten service will be at 7 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church. Separate from the worship service there will be a speaker, Jason Beckwith, on the subject of addiction, with discussion and desserts.

GLADE RUN UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The women of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, leave Friday for their weekend retreat to the Laurelville Mennonite Church Center.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., opens Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Holy Communion is celebrated at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Members and friends of Grace @ Calvary are invited to the BALM midweek Lenten gathering at First English Lutheran Church for worship and discussion at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Dessert will be served afterward.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets each Sunday morning for a 10 a.m. worship service at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

The Tom Walker family and Linda Grigor provide the music at the Sunday worship service.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., has a 9:30 a.m. Lenten book study Sunday followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The bell choir will rehearse at 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

The vocal choir will rehearse at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Nominations for church offices of elder, deacon and nominating committee are being received. Place the nomination form in the offering plate. Orders for Easter flowers to decorate the chancel are due by Tuesday.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Session of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the board room.

A Lenten lunch will be at noon Friday with the Rev. Paul Aiello speaking.

The 11 a.m. Sunday worship service will feature Baptism. GriefShare will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the board room.

MERIDIAN PRESBYTERIAN

Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., continues the Lenten Wednesday night faith and fellowship dinners at 5:45 p.m. followed by studies for all age groups.

A new members class is at 9:45 a.m. March 31 and April 7.

Orders for Easter flowers are being taken through April 7.

ORCHARD HILL BUTLER COUNTY

Orchard Hill Butler County celebrates Communion at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at 107 Staley Ave.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, welcomes the Rev Dennis Hindman as guest pastor Sunday.

The church basement will be open 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday to accept donations for the spring rummage sale.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, celebrates Communion at the 8:15 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The Safety Team will host CPR/AED training at noon Sunday. Registration is required.

The sanctuary is open from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday for community quiet time and prayer.

The sewing ministry meets 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., has a 6 p.m. Saturday worship service and 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship services. Sunday school is at 9 a.m.

Bible study is at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Bell choir practice is at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Children’s hour meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Community Lenten Service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The youths of Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, should be at the church by 12:30 p.m. Sunday for the service project at Lutherlyn.

The youth ministry will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

There will be noon Wednesday Lent worship. The 7 p.m. evening worship will be at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

The craft night has been moved to 6:30 p.m. March 28.

The health and wellness committee meets at 6:30 p.m. March 28.
