Butler bowlers fall short
NORTH VERSAILLES — Butler's boys and girls bowling teams fell short of qualifying for the state tournament Saturday in regional competition.
The Golden Tornado girls finished seventh out of 20 teams with a score of 3,196. Penn Trafford won the tourney.
The top six teams qualified for this weekend's state tournament. Butler finished 77 pins behind sixth-place Penn Hills. Lauren Bash paced the Tornado with a 491 series and a high game of 190.
Butler's boys finished 13th out of 20 teams with a score of 3,584. Brad Shirley had a 545 series and 198 game for the Tornado while Cole Thrash had a 525 and 191, Jordan Reges a 509 and 183.
Norwin won the boys team title.
Reges and Jordyn Graham of Butler will compete in the individual state tournament later this week.
