Slippery Rock High senior swimmer Heston Suorsa qualified for the state championship meet by placing fifth in the boys 100-yard backstroke at the District 10 Class AA finals, held Friday and Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Suorsa finished the event with a time of 55.68 seconds.

Freshman Natalie Carlantonio earned a pair of medals in the girls’ competition, placing sixth in both the 200 freestyle (2:00.92) and 500 freestyle (5:29.46).
