BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have a quartet providing the special music Sunday.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, observes Holy Communion at both services Sunday.

St. Vincent DePaul Food Cupboard will meet 8 a.m. Monday.

The contemporary worship planning team meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Ash Wednesday will be observed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

CONCORD PRESBYTERIAN

Concord Presbyterian Church, 625 Hooker Road, West Sunbury, will have 9:45 a.m. Sunday school followed by a traditional worship service at 11 a.m.

Just4Kids meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday for children in preschool through sixth grade.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., celebrates the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at the 11 a. Sunday worship service, Transfiguration Sunday.

The People for Peace study group meets at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Assembly Room.

Volunteers are needed to clean and polish around the church in preparation for the Ash Wednesday service and the Wednesday morning services of prayer during Lent.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext., begins Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The AA Group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WW meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, at 10 a.m. March 7 and at 8:30 a.m. March 9.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Women’s Missionary Fellowship of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., is from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Baptist Youth Center.

The Shop at 216 will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Sunday service schedule is an 8:30 a.m. prayer service, 9:15 a.m. breakfast followed by Mitch and Mia Tepper, missionaries with Christian Witness to Israel, will present their ministry at 9:45 a.m. and will deliver the message during the 11 a.m. worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., has canceled this Thursday’s Bible study. The Good Samaritan Flower Pot will be at the back of the sanctuary Sunday for contributions to help those in need in the Butler area.

The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

There will be a noon brief service of prayer and imposition of ashes on the front lawn of the church Wednesday.

There will be a 7 p.m. worship service with Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary.

GRACE@CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St. will celebrate Holy Communion at its 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Butler Relay for Life will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the social hall.

There will be a Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner at 5:30 p.m. with the annual talent show to follow.

There will be an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. with the imposition of ashes. All are welcome.

HIGHLAND PRESBYTERIAN

Highland Presbyterian Church 310 Franklin St. Slippery Rock, will observe Women’s Day at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Connie Dunn, a chaplain with VNA Hospice. Highland women will participate in the service. Communion will be served. The worship and music committee will host a fellowship hour after the service.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., celebrates the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at the 10:30 a.m. Transfiguration Sunday worship service.

Hill Quilters meet at 9 a.m. Friday in the fellowship hall.

The handbell ensemble will practice at 11 a.m. Saturday, and memorial ringers will practice at 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

The women’s book club will meet at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

INTERSECTION CHURCH

A four-week women’s Bible study on healing from 10 to 11:30 a.m. begins March 7.

JEFFERSON CENTER PRESBYTERIAN

Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church, 390 Frazier Road, Saxonburg, hosts a walk-in Communion service from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. A brief devotion will be provided to participants to read silently in their seats and meditate on the words. Periodically, participants will be invited to partake in the elements of Communion. The community is welcome.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., offers Holy Communion at both Sunday worship services.

The buildings and grounds committee meets at 12:15 p.m. Sunday to discuss the upkeep of the church.

The women’s Bible study meets at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Board Room.

The start of the Lenten season will be celebrated on from 5 to 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday with walk-in Communion.

NORTH WASHINGTON PRESBYTERIAN

North Washington Presbyterian Church, 714 Fairview Road, North Washington, has a 9:30 a.m. Sunday traditional worship service followed by 10:45 a.m. Sunday school.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, is asking members to wear blue on March 10 to celebrate the work of Presbyterian Disaster Relief Assistance.

Sunday’s guest preacher is Carolyn Jones who will be serving as pastor during the Rev. Peter de Vries’ upcoming sabbatical.

ORCHARD HILL BUTLER COUNTY

Orchard Hill Butler County meets at 107 Staley Ave.

Pastor Kurt Bjorklund preaches live at the Butler County campus at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Butler campus will hold a Core Group meeting at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the same location to pray for the community.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, has a 6:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday service led by the Rev. Dennis Hindman.

The Rev. Dennis Protzman will be guest pastor Sunday.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, celebrates Holy Communion during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The Cause of the Month for March is the Butler Emergency Relief Initiative (BERI).

The church will have an Ash Wednesday worship service with Holy Communion at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Everyone is welcome to attend.

ST. JOHN’S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, has a Mardi Gras jazz worship service with Communion at 10 a.m. Sunday. Fellowship after the service will include king cake.

Consistory will meet Sunday after fellowship.

The Praise Team practices at 6 p.m. Wednesday with choir practice at 7 p.m.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, celebrates Communion at both services Sunday.

Teens (grades 9-12) will have a ski weekend at Blue Knob Ski Resort from Friday to Sunday.

The sanctuary will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday for community quiet time and prayer.

The Fellowship for Christian Stewardship will host a free College Info Night for the community at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Centennial Hall.

The Sewing Ministry will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Fellowship Hall.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

Pastor Al Towberman of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., is retiring. His last sermons will be this weekend.

The Saturday worship service begins at 6 p.m. Sunday worship services are at 8 and 10:15 a.m. with Sunday school at 9 a.m.

Bell choir practice is 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Children’s Hour meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for children ages 2 and up.

The Ash Wednesday service is at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

ZION LUTHERAN

Zion Lutheran Church, 266 Zion Church Road, Chicora, will have a worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, followed by the annual congregational meeting. Sunday school will follow.
