Butler Twp Police4:09 p.m. Sunday — Snow and ice were blamed for a two-vehicle crash at South Benbrook Hill near Greenwood Drive. Police said the accident occurred when Cameron Morgan, 24, of Evans City lost control of his car and struck the other vehicle driven by Michael Thomas, 22, of Hermitage, Mercer County. No one was injured, but Morgan’s vehicle had to be towed.
State Police, Butler7:17 a.m. Wednesday — A 2006 GMC Envoy was damaged after its driver, Samuel K. Aley, 26, of Hermitage, lost control of the vehicle while traveling north on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.Aley’s SUV first struck the guide rail on the right of the highway, then traveled across the northbound lane and struck the embankment on the left.Aley was not injured in the crash. He was cited for speeding.Tuesday — Daniel I. Wick, 24, of West Sunbury was charged with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a November traffic stop in Butler.Police said Wick was pulled over Nov. 22 at Broad Street after he abruptly changed lanes without using his turn signal. He admitted that he had been drinking, according to court documents, and that he was headed home.He failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.176 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.Wick is charged with driving under the influence, failing to use turn signals, careless driving, a window tint violation and not wearing a seat belt.
State Police, Mercer4:44 p.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Elaine M. Kuhns, 63, of Slippery Rock was rear-ended by a pickup truck while stopped at a red light at West Main Street and George Junior Road in Pine Township. No one was injured.The pickup driver, Samantha R. Simon, 33, of Grove City left the scene, but Kuhns followed the truck and was able to get the license plate number, according to a police report.Police said they found Simon at her home. She faces tickets for a stop sign violation and other unspecified offenses.
State Police, KittanningSunday — An unnamed Turtle Creek man was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 28 in Buffalo Township. The suspect displayed signs of impairment during a traffic stop, according to police reports.
State Police, New CastleSunday — Troopers planned to cite three occupants of a vehicle being driven on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township after the driver was allegedly determined to be driving under the influence at a traffic stop.Nickolas Patterson, 21, of Volant, Lawrence County, was arrested for DUI and his underage passengers, Rylee Fritzley, 20, of Enon Valley, Lawrence County, and Mia Muraca, 19, of Slippery Rock also were charged with being under the influence of alcohol.Police reports state that troopers cited the women with summary offenses.11:47 p.m. Sunday — John Walters, 68, of Grove City was charged with DUI after troopers conducted a traffic stop on Route 8 in Brady Township.
