Truck stop to open in June

WORTH TWP — The township's tax base could see a little boost in 2019 with the coming of a new truck stop.

Love's Truck Stop has been attempting to add a location at the interchange of I-79 and Route 108 since 2017, but was stalled by boundary disputes between Butler and Lawrence counties.

“It's been four years in the making, but Love's Truck Stop is finally building,” said Shari Kreutz, township secretary and treasurer.

Kreutz said the dispute between the two counties was settled by the drawing of a new line in October. She said the new truck stop would definitively be built in Worth Township.

She said the new stop will also help the township financially.

“Worth Township really doesn't have any major businesses,” Kreutz said.

The company has more than 450 locations in 39 states and saw revenue around $19 billion at the end of fiscal year 2017, according to Forbes.

Tara Carr, media relations specialist for Love's, said the stop is scheduled to open in June 2019 and will feature a Subway restaurant, tire center and 48 truck parking spaces.

“The travel stop in Worth Township, Pennsylvania, will be Love's first location on I-79 in Pennsylvania, filling a missing void for customers along that corridor,” Carr said.

Kreutz said the township's new growth could inspire more to come.

“Now that it's starting to take shape, people are talking about it,” Kreutz said. “To us, it's exciting.”
