Karns City couldn't overcome a 20-point first quarter deficit as the Gremlins fell to Coudersport 83-67 in the District 9 Class 2A semifinals at Saint Marys.
The Gremlins got out to a sluggish start, surrendering 30 first-quarter points.Owen Chambers was able to score 13 points in the first period for Coudersport. He had 31 in the game.
“There really isn't a whole lot to say, we had a bad first quarter, let them get to a 20-point lead and we couldn't get any traction going from there,” Karns City coach Chris Bellis said.
Karns City did bounce back in the second, outscoring Coudersport 25-16 in that frame. But the hole that was dug in the first was too much to overcome.
“We did settle down in the second and were able to match them,” Bellis said. “Shots were falling and things started going our way, but they were already too far ahead of us by the end.”
Three Gremlins did reach double digits as Austin Fahlor 23 points, Chase Beighley 18 and Ethan McElroy 15.
