SEVEN FIELDS — Borough council awarded contracts Monday for paving, an external audit and traffic signal maintenance.

Council approved a paving contract for $152,700 with Youngblood Paving. The work includes paving on Cumberland Drive, Westburn Court, Strathmore Court and Graywick Drive. According to John Balewski, seven total bids were received. Youngblood's was the low bid.

“We've always had a lot of success with (them),” he said.

Balewski said he expects work to commence in the summer once school is out. He noted Graywick is the only original road in the borough that has never been paved.

Borough Manager Tom Smith said $200,000 was budgeted for paving.

Council also voted to spend $4,625 with Hosack, Specht, Muetzel & Wood for a required external audit. Smith noted other bids ranged from $12,000 to $14,000. The audit must be completed by the end of March and submitted to the state.

Council approved a traffic signal maintenance agreement with Cranberry Township. For the $8,420 agreement price, a Cranberry Township employee will perform maintenance on signals along Route 228. Smith noted the cost is cheaper than hiring an outside contractor.

Council also met in executive session for a personnel matter.
