SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University alerted students Saturday morning after a woman was reportedly robbed at gunpoint at the Grove Apartments, according to school officials.

State police told SRU officials that three men broke into an apartment at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday and held a gun to a woman’s head in order to steal her phone. The complex at 145 Harmony Road houses many SRU students.

The SRU-issued alert described the suspects as a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with red and white lettering; a black male wearing all black clothing, including a Nike hoodie, socks and shoes; and a male of unknown race.

The alert said state police checked the campus, but found no suspicious people.

Robb King, SRU spokesman, said the university sent an emergency text alert along with a campus-wide email to students, faculty and staff immediately after officials learned of the alleged crime.

“They go out almost simultaneously,” King said of the text and email notifications.

He said alerts are sent in accordance with university police.

King said campus was never in lockdown.
