Head-on collision injures drivers
CENTER TWP — Both drivers were injured on Sunday night in a head-on collision at Route 8 and McCandless Road, authorities said.
One driver was trapped and required extrication from her minivan. She and the other driver, a man, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with injuries not believed to be serious following the crash about 9:45 p.m. in Center Township.
State police are investigating but an accident report was not immediately available.
“One of the drivers was entrapped upon our arrival,” said Nathan Wulff, chief of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department. “We had to extricate the front driver's side door.”
The other driver was out of his sedan when crews got there. Butler Ambulance Service also assisted.
The drivers' injuries appeared to be “minor to moderate,” Wulff said. Their conditions were not known Monday.
Authorities noted that the roads were snow covered at the time and the conditions could have been a contributing factor in the accident. Speed was not believed to be a cause.
Both vehicles had to be towed away.
