JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley School District's Monday night board meeting was spent looking toward adjustments for the upcoming school year's schedule and planning for 2019 summer camps.

The calendar for the 2019-20 school year, recognition of local district holidays, Seneca Valley Academy of Choice summer school programs, and summer band and orchestra camps are all up for approval at the next action meeting.

The board will vote on the disposal of outdated and obsolete books from the Ryan Gloyer Middle School Library.

The rundown of the next meeting's agenda came after Evans City Elementary School first grade student Scarlet Elwell introduced herself to each board member and led them in the Pledge of Allegiance as part of Seneca Valley's “I Led the Pledge” initiative, which began in the fall.

Vaping prevention will become a popular topic in coming weeks.

Board Member Fred Peterson mentioned in his breakdown of new legislative happenings, and Linda Andreassi, communications director, reminded community members that the next healthy living presentation will be “Teenage Vaping, Drinking and Drugs” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in the senior high school auditorium.

The next Seneca Valley school board meeting will be an action session held Feb. 11.
