Both vehicles are towed after crash on Oneida Valley Road

One person was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital following a two-vehicle crash at about 2:30 p.m. Monday on Oneida Valley Road. Both SUVs involved in the collision had heavy front-end damage.

CENTER TWP — One person was taken to the hospital after a head-on collision Monday on Oneida Valley Road at Glenwood Way.

The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m., according to firefighters.

Shirley McKinney, 81, of Chicora was reportedly charged with a sign violation.

McKinney was stopped at the intersection in her 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, before she tried to make a left-turn onto Oneida Valley Road eastbound, according to a state police report.

As McKinney was turning, she collided with a 2017 Jeep Sport driven westbound on Oneida Valley Road by Edward Deary, 77, of Butler.

Both SUVs were disabled with heavy front-end damage and were towed from the scene, which saw the intersection shut down for about 30 minutes, according to Unionville Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Nathan Wulff.

“One way or another they hit head-on,” Wulff said.

Deary complained of minor injuries but refused treatment while his passenger, Sandra Deary, 73, of Butler was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by Butler Ambulance Service with suspected minor injuries.

In addition to Unionville, firefighters from Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department assisted.
