Rape charge filed against SRU student
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — A Slippery Rock University student is accused of raping another student last fall in his dormitory room.
SRU police Tuesday obtained an arrest warrant for Quentin M. Lay, 23, of Aliquippa, Beaver County. He is charged with rape, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, all felonies.
The alleged victim told campus police that she was in Lay's room around 5:15 p.m. Oct. 14 when they shared a kiss, according to court documents. But when she stopped kissing him back, she said he bit her lip.
The woman recounted that the defendant forced himself on her, despite her repeatedly telling him, “no.” She also accused him of verbally threatening her.
She told police that she was scared of Lay and eventually started to cry.
The criminal complaint did not indicate when the woman reported the alleged assault or if she went to the hospital for a rape examination.
Police on Thursday said they would not provide any further details beyond the information in the complaint, and referred questions to the university's media relations office.
SRU spokesman Robb King, citing university policy, said he could not comment on the ongoing investigation. He said Lay is a senior student majoring in social work.
The Butler Eagle could not reach Lay for comment.
