CRANBERRY TWP — Car trouble came at an inopportune time early Thursday morning for an Ohio woman who now faces charges for drug possession and driving a stolen vehicle.

Christina M. Grill, 34, of Ashtabula, Ohio, was arrested Thursday and charged with felony receiving stolen property, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and driving while suspended for the incident, which took place on Interstate 79.

A Cranberry Township police officer was patrolling I-79 at 3:56 a.m. Thursday when he came across a vehicle that appeared to be broken down, according to the criminal complaint. The driver, later identified as Grill, told officers she had run out of gas and the battery was dying.

A check of the vehicle's registration found that it had been reported stolen in Ohio earlier in the day. The complaint notes Grill's license was suspended.

Grill was arrested, and a search found two plastic bags. One contained “white crystals believed to be crystal meth,” while the other allegedly contained an unknown white powder “to be determined by testing,” the complaint states.

Grill was arraigned Thursday morning and is being held in Butler County Prison on a $25,000 monetary bond. A Feb. 1 preliminary hearing is scheduled before District Judge David Kovach.
