ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate Anthony Sprentz, a senior on the Penn State Behrend men’s volleyball team, had eight digs and 16 assists in the Lions’ 3-0 season-opening win over Mount Union recently.

Sprentz needs 17 assists to reach 2,000 in his career.

SHIPPENSBURG — John Castello, a 2016 Mars High School graduate and junior forward for Shippensburg University’s men’s basketball team, scored his 1,000th collegiate point in a 91-65 win over Mansfield on Wednesday.

Castello is averaging 15.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the Red Raiders (15-4, 9-2).

SLIPPERY ROCK — Four Slippery Rock University baseball players have been named to the 2019 preseason All-Atlantic Region team.

Senior shortstop Joe Campagna, sophomore third baseman Abraham Mow and senior relief pitcher Wyatt Daugherty earned first team honors. Senior outfielder Frankie Jezioro made second team.
