Cranberry Gymboree going out of business
CRANBERRY TWP — The Gymboree store in the township will close after its parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week.
The filings were made for all stores under the Gymboree Group umbrella, including Gymboree, Crazy 8 and Janie and Jack.
Filing for bankruptcy allows for, “an orderly wind-down of all of its Gymboree and Crazy 8 store locations and operations,” according to a news release.
The company first filed for bankruptcy in July 2017 and closed 350 stores.
The company currently operates 900 Gymboree stores, including one in the Streets of Cranberry on Route 19. That store had signs advertising a going out of business sale on Monday.
Shaz Kahng, Gymboree Group CEO, said the company has worked diligently to explore options for Gymboree Group and its brands.
“We are saddened and highly disappointed that we must move ahead with a wind-down of the Gymboree and Crazy 8 businesses,” she said. “As we move ahead, we are working to minimize the impact on our employees, customers, vendors and other stakeholders.”
A timeline for closing stores has not yet been set.
