RIO DE JANEIRO — Brazilian supermodel-turned-environmental activist Gisele Bündchen is responding to criticism from a Cabinet minister.
Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina Dias accused Bundchen of tainting the country's image abroad. Speaking in a radio interview Monday, the minister called the super model a “bad Brazilian” for denouncing deforestation.
Bundchen responded late Wednesday with a statement saying she would “be happy to announce positive actions” taken toward sustainable development.
In her post, Bundchen says that she is surprised her name was mentioned negatively and that her criticisms of deforestation in Brazil have been based on science.
Bundchen cites a government report saying deforestation in Brazil rose nearly 14 percent from August 2017 to July 2018.

LONDON — Buckingham Palace says the 97-year-old husband of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, has been in a car accident but wasn't injured.
The palace said the two-car accident happened Thursday afternoon near Sandringham Estate, the queen's country retreat in eastern England.
The Norfolk Constabulary says officers responded to a reported collision and two people in one of the vehicles were treated for minor injuries.
The palace said a doctor examined Philip as a precaution and confirmed he wasn't hurt.
Britain's Press Association quoted a palace spokeswoman saying the Duke of Edinburgh, the title he received on his wedding day, was driving one of the cars.
He had a passenger in the car, but the spokeswoman would not reveal who it was, the Press Association reported.
Philip has largely retired from the royal family's public duties.

NEW YORK — Former CBS CEO Les Moonves is fighting the company's decision to deny his $120 million severance package following his firing over sexual misconduct allegations.Moonves is demanding binding arbitration proceedings to challenge the decision, CBS announced in a filing Thursday with the Security Exchange Commission.The company's board of directors denied Moonves his severance last month after concluding that he violated company policy and did not cooperate with an investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations.Moonves, one of television's most influential figures, was ousted in September after allegations from women who said he subjected them to mistreatment including forced oral sex, groping and retaliation if they resisted.The former CEO's legal team declined to comment Thursday.
