Butler County shouldn't see much snow accumulation this week on top of the couple inches that arrived Saturday, forecasters predict.

Jason Frazier, a meteorologist with Pittsburgh's National Weather Service office, said the week's snow chances are low, and that if snow does fall it should be light.

Temperatures should only reach a few degrees above freezing, he said, but solar insulation will melt some.

Slight chances of light snow are in the forecast for Wednesday morning, and even slighter chances of light snow are also forecast for Friday morning.

This coming weekend, however, may bring more substantial snowfall. That storm, Frazier said, will likely “be drawing the most attention as we get into the week.”

It's the region's “best chances for heavy snowfall,” he said.

However, the models predicting the storm are too far out to be sure. Just a few days ago, Frazier said, this storm looked more like a heavy rain.

The snow that fell Saturday hit hardest south of I-70, he said, in parts of northern West Virginia. Some areas saw six or seven inches.
