SRU men win 7th game in row
CALIFORNIA — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team sank 15 3-pointers Wednesday night in defeating California (Pa.) 95-84 on the road.
The win was the seventh straight for The Rock (9-5, 6-1).
The 15 treys were the most made in a game by SRU since the 2009-10 season.
John Warren II scored 29 points and had five assists. Jared Armstrong contributed 17 points.
Micah Till played limited minutes and had 11 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Women
California 78, SRU 72 — The Rock (6-7, 4-3) led the 16th-ranked Vulcans by 11 points with seven minutes left in this road game, but could not hold on.
The Vulcans (12-1, 6-1) closed the game on a 27-10 run.
Brooke Hinderliter paced The Rock with 29 points and is only 54 away from 1,000 for her career. Ciara Patterson scored 14 points and Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson added 12 points and six rebounds.
Gina Vallercorsa scored 20 points to lead California, which shot 32 free throws to SRU’s eight. The Rock had 21 turnovers.
Both Rock teams host Indiana (Pa.) Saturday at Morrow Field House. The Crimson Hawk men are ranked No. 3 in the nation, the women are ranked No. 2.

Jamestown CC 88, BC3 75 — The game was even at 41 at halftime, but the Pioneers (4-9) could not put away a win.
Joel Stutz had 18 points and eight rebounds for BC3. Andrew Yonker had 17 points, Jace Stutz 13 points and eight assists, Josh Knochel 13 points.
Jamestown CC 65, BC3 (women) 46 — Casey Kretzer paced the Pioneers (3-8) with 20 points. Carly Burdett scored 14.
Mackenzie Craig was limited to eight points, but grabbed 13 rebounds.
