Boozel says he'll seek re-election in 2019

Kevin Boozel

Butler County Commissioner Kevin Boozel has announced that he will run for re-election in 2019.

Boozel, a Democrat who was elected county commissioner in 2015, said he has proven himself extremely accessible and responsive to residents, gained the trust of those he serves and is a proven leader who gets things done.

Boozel pointed to several accomplishments during his tenure as commissioner, including:

Increasing transparency and accessibility to his office

Taking the lead among county partners to ensure efficiency, collaboration and positive outcomes

Expansion of the county transit system

Improved connection to vocational, educational and private employment providers that contributes to low unemployment in the county

Investment in technology that creates long-term financial gains, improves public access and increases productivity

Improved public safety through emergency services investments

Improved resident and staff morale along with an improved public image for the county; and

Being instrumental in instituting a county humane officer.

Boozel completed two leadership programs at the state level, was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni at Butler County Community College, received a county award for organizing the First Responders Night recognition program, was elected by his peers to serve as vice president of the state County Commissioners Association, serves as a firefighter and emergency medical technician at the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department, created the Boozel Family Scholarship with his siblings, oversaw new county expenditures and staffing levels and initiated multiple cost containment measures as a commissioner.

“There is still more work to be done and I am respectfully asking for your support moving through the next election,” Boozel said in his re-election bid announcement.

Boozel is a Meridian native and Butler High School graduate who earned an associate degree at BC3 and a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1993 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Boozel has been married for 25 years and has two grown sons who serve in the military.

“With your continued support and vote, I want to continue to build a better Butler with you,” Boozel said.

Boozel received 12,331 votes in November 2015 to Leslie Osche's 20,449 and Kim Geyer's 18,094.
