BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, has the Rev. Millie Martsolf providing the music Sunday.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, sets up at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for the Christmas Happenings community event running 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Volunteers are needed for both days. Cookies should be delivered Saturday. Volunteers for Sunday event should arrive by 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Sunday donations will be accepted for the Hearts for Haiti at both services.

The First English Lutheran Church work team meets at 4 p.m. Monday. The care team meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Newsletter items are due Wednesday.

On Wednesday the men’s fellowship meets at 6:30 a.m. at Kings Restaurant, 191 New Castle Road, the quilters meet at 9 a.m. and the Bible study group meets at 7 p.m.

EMMANUEL LUTHERAN

Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 143 Church St., Prospect, will have Communion during its 9 a.m. Sunday worship service.

FAITH U.P.

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St., has 9:30 a.m. Sunday school followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The lighting of the Advent candle will take place, and Mark and Roberta Dougherty will read Advent devotions.

The AA Group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Weight Watchers meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. Dec. 20 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 22.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will have 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes, an 11 a.m. Sunday worship service followed by a noon luncheon and a 1 p.m. worship service.

The youth group will have a Christmas party at noon Sunday. The youth group will Christmas carol at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Kids Klub will have a Christmas party at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

The fellowship committee of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., meets at 10 a.m. Friday in the ladies’ lounge.

There will be a family movie night showing the movie “Elf” in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. Friday. Popcorn and hot chocolate will be served.

The deadline for the January newsletter is Saturday. Email information to the church office.

The church council for 2019 will be installed Sunday during the worship service.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the library.

Members of Grace @ Calvary will lead worship at LIFE Butler County, 231 W Diamond St., with the adult day program participants at 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. Be at the church by 10:40 a.m.

The midweek Advent soup and study will be Wednesday with dinner served at 6 p.m. and the study beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank is open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 20. No proof of income is required. Each family may fill one large bag. The closet will be closed Dec. 22.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

Michelle Huff and Pat Hovis will provide the music at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

HIGHLAND PRESBYTERIAN

Members of Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, will go Christmas caroling Friday. Carolers will meet at the church at 7 p.m. and return to the church afterward for cookies and hot beverages.

The deacons will pack gift bags Saturday. All baked goods should be at the church by 9 a.m.

The play “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” will be presented during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. A fellowship time will follow, hosted by the Christian Education committee.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will receive the Christmas Joy offering through Christmas. It benefits PC(USA) retired church workers and seminary students.

The Christmas luncheon will immediately follow Sunday worship.

The yarn group will not meet Sunday due to the luncheon.

The bell ensemble will rehearse at 5 p.m. Thursday, followed by bell choir rehearsal at 6 p.m.

Intersection

The men’s monthly breakfast at Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave., will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Mac’s Route 8 Cafe, 16 Pittsburgh Road.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The stewardship committee of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., meets at 6 p.m. Thursday in the office, while the deacons meet at 7 p.m. in the board room for their final meeting of 2018.

At both the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday worship services the Joy Advent candle will be lit.

The youth group Christmas party will be at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Youth Room.

NEW ZION EVANGELICAL

New Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 1195 Airport Road, Emlenton, has a service of carols, candlelight, and Communion at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 24.

ORCHARD HILL BUTLER COUNTY

Orchard Hill Butler County worships at 107 Staley Ave.

Orchard Hill Butler County will have Christmas music and message service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Messages will be by Pastors Kurt Bjorklund and Brady Randall, and music will center around the birth of Christ.

RIDER LUTHERAN

Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, will have a 9 a.m. setup Saturday for its 175th anniversary celebration.

Interim Pastor Paul Lubbold and guest Pastor Melissa Fleeger Helfer officiate the 10 a.m. Sunday 175th anniversary worship service.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN OF CONNOQUENESSING

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate Holy Communion during its celebration of the Third Sunday of Advent.

After the worship service, there will be a short congregation meeting to vote on approving the 2019 operating budget plus voting for the candidates to fill the vacant positions on church council and the cemetery association. The council meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, will have a Blue Christmas Community worship service at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Church decorating will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 23 after the 10:30 a.m. worship service. There will be no ladies book group meeting in December.

There will be an Advent family breakfast between worship services Dec. 23.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

The men’s breakfast fellowship of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, is at 7:45 a.m. Saturday at Kings Restaurant, 400 Buffalo Plaza, Buffalo Township.

Christmas carolers will meet for lunch at noon Sunday, and caroling begins at 12:45 p.m.

Cabot Food Bank volunteers meet at 6 p.m. Monday, and the free Warrior Within (Christ-centered yoga) introduction is at 6 p.m. in the Hattie Cooper Room.

The community prayer group meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Youth Room.

The bell choir performs at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Saxony Health Center, 223 Pittsburgh St., Saxonburg.

The sewing ministry meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 20.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will have caroling for shut-ins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Meet at the church.

Worship with healing will be at the 5:30 p.m. Saturday worship service and at the 8:30 a.m. Sunday service.

The Sunday school Christmas program will be at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Church council meets at 7 p.m. Monday. Ladies quilting meets at 1 p.m. Dec. 20.
