A Butler man was charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle crashed through a fence on East Portersville Road in Muddy Creek Township, knocking part of the fence into a nearby house, according to state police.

At 6:51 p.m. Friday, Joseph H. Trautman, 26, was driving a minivan east and crossed into the oncoming lane and off the berm, police said. The vehicle broke through a fence surrounding a house.

On Sunday, part of the fence could be seen poking into the nearby home.

Police said Trautman drove away but he was found nearby at his home. Police said he admitted that he used drugs just before driving and, when he was searched, police found him possessing a controlled substance.
