Unemployment rate
In October, Butler County maintained both its unemployment rate and its position as the lowest unemployment rate in the Pittsburgh area, according to the latest workforce statistics.
Butler County had an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent in October, the same as it had in September, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s Center for Workforce Information and Analysis.
The center lumps Butler County in with six others to form the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.
Overall, the area’s average unemployment rate of 4.2 percent also didn’t change from September.
The highest unemployment rate in the area belonged to Fayette County, which increased a tenth of a percentage point to 5.8 percent.
In Pennsylvania at large, the lowest unemployment rate was 3.3 percent in Chester and Cumberland counties, while Forest County’s 6.4 percent was the highest.
