2 a.m. Wednesday — Aliza D. Abrams, 37, of Butler, was arrested after she allegedly broke into a vehicle on the 300 block of First Street. The vehicle alarm alerted the owner, who caught the would-be thief in the act.
Police were called and found Abrams nearby, according to court documents. She appeared to be intoxicated.
She was arraigned on charges of attempted theft from a vehicle, loitering and prowling at night and public drunkenness. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail following arraignment.
11:06 p.m. Tuesday — Joshua A. Lieberum, 26, was arrested on charges that he strangled his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at their home on Third Avenue.
The victim told police, according to court documents, that Lieberum struck her in the face, choked her around the neck, grabbed her by the hair and shoved her to the ground.
Police said the woman appeared to have fresh injuries to her face and neck.
Lieberum was arraigned on a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail following arraignment.
Tuesday — Police charged Brian L. Winrader, 56, of Butler, with cutting down a neighbor’s cherry tree on the 500 block of North Elm Street last month.
Surveillance video showed Winrader on the victim’s property about 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 2 cutting down the tree that had branches extending onto his property, according to court documents. After felling the tree, police said, the defendant returned to his home.
The value of the tree and the cost to dispose of it totaled $3,026, documents said.
Winrader is charged with criminal mischief and defiant trespass.

Tuesday — Brandon L. Russell, 25, of Butler, was charged with having cocaine and Xanax stemming from an alleged shoplifting incident last month.
Police said Russell was stopped about 10:55 p.m. on Oct. 5 for trying to take $167.92 in merchandise from the Butler Commons’ Walmart.
He was subsequently found with the suspected drugs and other contraband.
Russell is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft.
5:38 p.m. Sunday — Two men were allegedly caught with drugs and other contraband following a traffic stop on Hansen Avenue. Zachary Ryan, the driver, was found with suspected crack cocaine, according to police.
Ryan’s passenger, Christopher L. Smith Jr., 31, of Chicora, is accused of having heroin. Both defendants are charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Additionally, police cited Ryan for driving without a license and a lighting violation.

1:32 a.m. Nov. 4 — An Allegheny County man was arrested for drunken driving on Route 8 at Fraser Road. Police said that Sean D. Cominsky, 26, of Allison Park, was stopped for speeding.
Cominsky allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Butler police station for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.147 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Cominsky is charged with driving under the influence, speeding and driving too fast for conditions.
