FAIRVIEW TWP — A woman accused of snorting Xanax off the dresser in her daughter's bedroom made matters worse Friday when she allegedly tried to kick a trooper and tore the tie off his uniform.

State police arrested Lisa S. Preston, 49, on a list of charges following the incident shortly after 1 a.m. at her home on Route 268 in Fairview Township. She is being held in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.

Police were called to Preston's home for a report of the defendant “attempting to fight everyone in the house,” according to court documents.

Troopers found her in a back bedroom where they believed she had snorted crushed up pills of Xanax — the brand name for alprazolam, a drug commonly prescribed to treat anxiety.

The bedroom, police said, is used by Preston's 13-year-old daughter.

On the dresser top, documents said, was white powder and a straw that had been cut short.

The troopers noted that the defendant had white powder in both nostrils, according to a police affidavit, “indicating recent drug use.”

Police said she also appeared to be high on drugs and had trouble standing up.

While on the bed, documents said, Preston tried to kick Trooper Matthew Kephart.

Later, she allegedly grabbed the trooper by the chest and ripped off his tie. She also is accused of trying to push Trooper Shaun Milkovich.

In back of the cruiser and in handcuffs, police said, she kicked the headrest of the passenger seat where Kephart was sitting.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Preston on charges of child endangerment, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.

She also is charged with summary harassment for allegedly scratching the face of a man who was in the house apparently before police got there.

A condition of Preston's bail that Haggerty set is that she have no contact with her teen daughter.
