Six cars involved in Forward Twp pileup

FORWARD TWP — Sleet, hail and an earlier car accident led to a six-car pileup on the morning of Nov. 15 on Evans City Road, according to police.

While driving east on Evans City Road shortly after 6:45 a.m., Mitch A. DiMaria, 20, of West Sunbury slowed his car as he approached an accident.

Traveling in the lane behind DiMaria, Alexa L. Bacho, 25, of Butler told police that she couldn’t stop her vehicle because of ice on the road and, as a result, rear ended Dimaria’s car.

Jenna D. Weinberg, 22, of Pittsburgh, was driving in the same direction. She too told police she couldn’t stop in time, and struck Bacho’s car from behind. Then, Samir M. Hussain, 33, of Cherry Hill also was unable to stop his vehicle, hitting Weinberg’s car, according to police reports.

Weinberg’s vehicle continued to move forward and ended up in the westbound lane. Her car was struck in the front by a vehicle heading west that was driven by Anthony D. Blasone, 28, of New Bethlehem, police said. Blasone’s car also ended up striking the rear of Weinberg’s car.

According to police, Weinberg wasn’t the only one to stray into opposing traffic. After hitting Weinberg’s car from behind in the initial pileup, Hussain’s car went into westbound traffic and hit the side mirror of a sixth car — operated by Matthew S. Zabicki, 29, of Butler — that was stopped, police said.

No injuries were reported from the crash, according to police.
