Cabot United Methodist Church, 707 Winfield Road, Cabot, will begin its Upward Program for basketball and cheerleaders for the 2019 season in January.
There are two evaluation dates planned: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Practices will begin the week of Jan. 7, and games will begin Jan. 26.

After the service, the deacons and other members of the congregation will decorate the sanctuary for Christmas.

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., because of the power outage problems in Butler County, will include the Stewardship Commitment pledges of time, abilities and resources and the Blessing of the Prayer Shawls and Scarves at Sunday’s worship service.
The church office will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.
The annual Christmas Tree Drive will begin Sunday and end Dec. 16. Monetary donations will help enrich the lives of Butler County children and youths.
There is a sign-up sheet in the Social Room for poinsettias for Christmas.

The church office at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving.
Grace’s Closet, the free clothing bank provided by Grace @ Calvary, will be closed Saturday because of the holiday weekend. It will reopen Dec. 8.
RSVPs for the Dec. 2 Annual Advent Luncheon are due at the church office by Sunday. Reservations are not mandatory, but are helpful in the committee’s planning.

The Sewing Ministry meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, and community quiet time and prayer is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the sanctuary.

The deacons of Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia, invite the congregation to stay after Sunday worship to help decorate the church for the Christmas season. A soup and sandwich lunch will be provided.
