4-H honors leaders, members, helpers for achievements at annual banquet

From left, Bailey Kondos, Madison Myers and Mayson Kennedy were named Butler County 4-H Outstanding Project winners during the annual Achievement Banquet on Nov. 5.

The Butler County 4-H recognized its leaders and members for their accomplishments during the annual Achievement Banquet.

More than 240 4-H volunteers, members and guests attended the banquet at the General Butler Vagabonds Hall on Nov. 5.

Marburger Farm Dairy was recognized as this year's Friend of 4-H for its years of generosity toward 4-H youth and volunteers and donating milk and tea for events.

Leaders were recognized for their years of service. Recognized were first-year leaders Sam Erskine and Marlene Myers; five-year leaders Carole Rost, Jacquelyne Ranko, Laurel Johnson Ellenberger and Marki Palmer; ten-year leaders Lona Peters and Bryan Rager; 15-year leader Gerald Vaerewyck and 35-year leader George Dean.

The Outstanding 4-H'er awards were presented to junior 4-H'er Mayson Kennedy, the daughter of John and Valerie Kennedy of Valencia, intermediate 4-H'er Madison Myers, daughter of Timothy and Marlene Myers of Valencia, and senior 4-H'er Bailey Kondos, daughter of Michael and Jocelyn Kondos of Evans City.

The Pomona Grange, AgChoice Farm Credit and the Butler 4-H Development Committee presented awards. Contestants had to submit books on their agricultural projects as well as applications.

Rich and Virginia Mangel and Mary Zabernaki presented the Grange awards.

The winners and their categories are Jonathan Crouthamel, horse; Kylie Burke, dairy cattle; Madison Myers, goat; Andersen Brunst, rabbits; Ryleigh Henry, beef; Aaron Drake, sheep; Madilynn Kerr, swine; Nicholas Weber, poultry; Jillian Ranko, other animal science; Andrew Costel, textile science; Mark Edinboro, leisure; Gretchen Kellar, science and technology; Timothy Costel, consumer science and expressive arts; Melissa Drake, foods and nutrition; Jeb Kellar, environmental Earth and science.

Alyssa Sheppard and Steve Allaman presented the AgChoice Farm Credit awards. The winners and their categories are Maddy Fry, dairy cattle; Cheyanne McDonald, goat; Andersen Brunst, rabbits; Ben Drake, beef; Aaron Drake, sheep; Tyler Smith, swine; Laura Hone, poultry and Jillian Ranko, other.

Horse project members recognized for completing level 1 skills training were Austin Baker, Jennifer Cichra, Jonathan Crouthamel, Morgan Mursock, Kendall Myers, Collin Reeder and Ella Stewart. Jennifer Cichra and Maggie Schwalm were recognized for completing level 2 training and Jesse Dillaman was recognized for completing level 4 training.
