HARRISVILLE — A man is accused of firing a gun into the air Tuesday during a domestic dispute outside his home in the borough.

State police arrested 21-year-old Phillip L. Sasse following the incident on the 300 block of West Mercer Street. No one was injured.

District Judge William Fullerton on Wednesday arraigned Sasse on misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and harassment, and summary charges of disorderly conduct and harassment. He was later released on his own recognizance.

The alleged victim, a girl who police did not identify in court documents, told troopers that she went to the defendant's home to retrieve her clothes.

She recounted that while she was there, Sasse made statements “telling her to kill herself,” according to a police affidavit. He also allegedly grabbed her arms.

The victim said she left the house and ran to her car to leave. But, documents said, he pulled a handgun and fired a shot into the air before she left.

The investigating trooper subsequently spoke to a witness who lives near Sasse's home. The neighbor recalled that he heard was defendant and the victim before hearing “what sounded like a gun,” the affidavit said.

The witness told investigators that he looked outside and saw Sasse holding a handgun while standing next to a car believed to belong to the victim.

Sasse's preliminary hearing is set Nov. 28 at the office of District Judge Bill O'Donnell in Slippery Rock.
