Tedd Nesbit

Republican state Rep. Tedd Nesbit, R-8th, won his third term in office representing the 8th Legislative District by defeating Democratic challenger Lisa Boeving-Learned in Tuesday’s election, according to unofficial results.

The district includes parts of Butler and Mercer counties.

With votes counted in 81 of 89 precincts in Butler County, Nesbit, an attorney and a former assistant district attorney in Mercer County who lives in Grove City, received 6,733 votes, or 70.1 percent, according to unofficial results.

Boeving-Learned, a U.S. Army veteran and retired police sergeant from Mercer County, received 2,859 votes, or 29.7 percent, the unofficial results show.

In Mercer County, Nesbit out-gained Boeving-Learned 8,937 to 3,534, or 71.5 percent to 28.3 percent, with votes from all 100 precincts counted, according to unofficial results.

“I’m honored. I think we’re working hard for the constituents, and I’m pleased with the results,” Nesbit said.

When the legislature returns to Harrisburg, Nesbit said he will continue to work on economic development projects.

“We’ve got to get back to making Pennsylvania competitive (in) economic development,” he said.

Nesbit serves on the children and youth, gaming oversight, insurance and judiciary committees.

Boeving-Learned is from Warren, Ohio, but was raised near Pittsburgh. She worked in military intelligence during her four years in the Army before working for the Tampa, Fla., Police department for 25 years.
