Bernstine wins 10th race against Green candidate
Republican state Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10th, defeated Green Party candidate Darcelle Slappy of Beaver Falls in Tuesday’s election to represent the 10th Legislative District, which includes parts of Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties, according to unofficial results.
With votes in 81 of 89 precincts counted in Butler County, Bernstine received 1,818 votes, or 73.1 percent, and Slappy received 658, or 26.4 percent.
With votes from all 129 precincts counted in Beaver County, Bernstine received 6,186 votes, or 73.4 percent, and Slappy received 2,214 votes, or 26.2 percent.
Results from the part of the district in Lawrence County were not available Tuesday night.
Bernstine was seeking his second term in office and said he will not serve more than four terms.
Slappy is a member of the Beaver Falls School Board.
Bernstine said he is excited to get back to work.
“I’m excited to continue the work we started in 2016 and beyond humbled for the opportunity to continue to serve the people of the 10th District,” Bernstine said. “Our focus will be to continue to make sure that every dollar of taxpayer money is spent with the highest level of efficiency and work with local government to create job opportunities in the 10th District.”
Slappy could not be reached for comment.
