BUTLER TWP — Butler Township resident and former Butler Catholic cross country standout CJ Singleton medaled at the PIAA Championships over the weekend.

Now a freshman at St. Joseph, Singleton placed 20th in the boys Class 1A cross country race.

[naviga:h3]SV grad Maurer gets AMCC honor[/naviga:h3]

ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate Ryan Maurer, a senior on the Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team, has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Mauer helped Behrend win the AMCC Tournament, scoring two goals in the semifinal game and another in the finals. He was named to the all-tournament team as well.

[naviga:h3]Ex-Butler Y swimmer Marzolf honored[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — Former Butler YMCA swimmer Mallory Marzolf, a sophomore at Chatham University, has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week.

Marzolf won five individual events and swam the first leg of two winning relays in Chatham victories over Franciscan and Penn State Behrend.

[naviga:h3]BC3 volleyball falls in tourney[/naviga:h3]

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College women’s volleyball team had its season ended by a 3-0 loss to Owens in the NJCAA Division III District I/J Championships on Saturday.

Scores of the match were 25-6, 25-6, 25-11.
