Falcon Knights put up fight in defeat
The Union/A-C Valley football team hung with No. 1 seed Smethport on the road, but was eliminated from the District 9 Class A playoffs with a 28-0 loss Friday night.
The Falcon Knights (4-7) were down just 7-0 at the half after forcing several Hubber turnovers.
Blake Kinner finally got Smethport on the board midway through the second quarter with a 4-yard run.
Smethport (10-0) found the going much better in the second half.
Grant Ognen todded a 22-yard touchdown pass to Nate Hollowell to put the Hubbers up 15-0 and then Kinner slammed into the end zone from the 6 for a 21-0 advantage.
The Hubbers scored again late to seal the game and move on to play Curwensville next week.
It was Smethport’s first playoff win since 1999.
