Crooner performs Sinatra, Christmas favorites at SRU
Steve Lippia, best known for interpreting songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, will be backed by the Slippery Rock University Jazz Ensemble for a performance Nov. 17.
The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the Smith Center Ballroom as part of the SRU Performing Arts Series.
The program for the show called “A Swingin’ Holiday Affair” will feature many of Sinatra’s best known numbers as well as popular Christmas songs, including “The Best is Yet to Come,” “All the Way,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Come Fly with Me” and “My Way,” as well as “Let It Snow,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “White Christmas,” “Jingle Bells,” “The Christmas Waltz” and “The Christmas Song.”
Lippia has headlined extended engagements in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, as well as other venues.
He has recorded three CDs, the most recent of which earned him a Grammy nomination.
The Slippery Rock University Jazz Ensemble, is directed by associate professor of music and professional saxophonist Jason Kush.

The Performing Arts Series show at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the University Union features the Martini Pop quartet performing swing versions of modern Top 40 hits.
